Cobras land explosive PG Malik McKinney

McKinney - a Division II collegiate standout - joins the Cobras following a pair of dominant seasons in the Big-V championship division, averaging 22.9 points, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals per contest over the past two seasons with Hume City and Bellarine, and ranking amongst the league leaders in each category. Prior to his time in Australia, McKinney starred at Division II powerhouse West Liberty college, helping lead the team to back-to-back national championship game appearances in 2022 and 2023, playing a key role as a slasher, facilitator and defensive menace.
The 6’2 lefty guard boasts lightning speed and athleticism, with the ability to blow by defenders, facilitate, and finish in creatively in traffic in a variety of ways. McKinney’s speed is not limited to the offensive end, though, with his cat like quickness making him a disruptive force on the defensive end, able defend and pester opposing guards in the full court.
Pairing with veteran point guard Adi Tomada, and elite scorer, Jamie Ahale, the Cobras backcourt is shaping up to be an explosive and highly entertain unit for season 2026.
