Cobras star set to miss remainder of NBL1 season

The Cobra Women have been dealt a significant blow to their backcourt, with star point guard Haylee Andrews suffering a season-ending foot injury last weekend.

Andrews sustained a foot injury in the second half of the Cobras road loss to the Melbourne Tigers on Sunday; with Kilsyth now set to be without arguably their most valuable performer for the duration of the 2026 season. Andrews was simply spectacular to start 2026, flirting with a triple-double as she averaged 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists prior to Sunday’s game, leading the Cobras to a 4-1 start in the process.

While Andrews’ dynamic skill set and leadership is a big loss, the Cobras depth at the guard position has been a strength thus far in 2026. Young point guard Georgia McBean has shown flashes of brilliance playing both behind and alongside Andrews, while Nikita Young, Hannah Day, Miranda Gartner and Bella Niven-Brown have shown the ability to shift from the wing to take on increased ball handling responsibilities.

No time to dwell for the 4-2 Cobras, who will look to regroup for a key home showdown against the Ballarat Rush (4-3 ) tonight in a top-eight battle (5:30pm/7:30pm).
