The Kilsyth Cobra VYC Women and Men have each secured postseason berths, with the VYC Finals tipping-off this weekend.
Claire Knight’s Cobra Women clinched the Terrill Conference #4 seed, and will head to Altona to take on the Gators on Saturday night (7.30pm) in an Elimination Final. A win would see the Cobras advance to a road Semi Final on Sunday against either Casey or Keilor (TBD). The Gators won the lone game between the two teams earlier this season in a three point nail-biter, but the Cobras boast the better regular season record in what should be a thrilling win-or-go-home showdown.
Zach Moult’s Cobra Men secured the #2 record in the Watson Conference, earning a first round double chance in the process. The Cobra Men head to Knox to face the rival league-leading Raiders in a road Qualifying Final on Saturday night (8.15pm, Boronia Stadium): with the winner advancing to next week’s Preliminary Finals. A loss would see the Cobras host a home Semi Final on Sunday (1pm). The Raiders – who boast the league’s top overall record – took out the lone matchup in Round 4, but the Cobras enter the postseason having won four of their final five games, setting the stage for another exciting battle between the two bitter rivals.
