Kilsyth junior Adi Tomada has signed with the NBL1 Cobra Men for the 2021 season.

Tomada returns to Kilsyth following an ultra-impressive stint in the Big-V with McKinnon, where he led the Cougars to the 2019 state championship and was named to the league’s All-Star Five. The shifty point guard boasted impressive numbers of 21.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in 2019, shooting an efficient 49.4% from the field, 38.4% from deep and 79.2% from the foul line.

The Maroondah Magic junior’s elite playmaking ability saw him finish third in the league for assists last season – including a season-best 11 in the championship game clincher – while his ridiculous 51 point explosion against Corio Bay on June 1 was a league-high for 2019.

Prior to his move to McKinnon, Tomada enjoyed a stellar VYC career with the Cobras, winning the league’s Rookie of the Year award in 2014 before taking home league MVP honours in 2015 — leading Kilsyth to the state championship in the process. At the helm of Kilsyth’s VYC championship-winning group in 2015 was NBL1 Cobras head coach Pete Godfrey, who is thrilled to have the hard-working Tomada back home as Cobras floor general for 2021.

“Adi is another young Cobra returning home in pursuit of the ultimate prize at NBL1 level,” Godfrey said.

“His high IQ, skill set and relentless drive to get better make him a coach’s must-have. Adi is living proof that hard work pays dividends.”

Tomada and the Cobras tip-off their 2021 campaign at home against the Waverley Falcons on Saturday April 17.
