Kilsyth junior Nikita Young has re-signed with the Cobras for the 2023 NBL1 season.

Young enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign with the Cobras, averaging career-bests of 10.8 points and a team-leading 1.7 steals per game. Young scored 15-plus points on five occasions, highlighted by a scintillating 35 point performance against the Dandenong Rangers in July which earned her NBL1 South Player of the Week honours.

Young’s blend of electric quickness and ability to light it up from deep has helped established herself as one of the league’s most exciting up-and-coming stars, and helped put her on the WNBL radar heading into 2023. The Mount Evelyn Meteor junior’s impressive season has seen her earn a place on the Southside Flyer’s extended roster as a training player, with Cobras head coach Hannah Lowe – who also serves as an assistant coach for the Flyers – expecting Young’s WNBL experience to help take her game to the next level.

“We’re excited to have Nikita back after spending the offseason training with the Southside Flyers,” Lowe said.

“Nikita is a long time Cobra, and will continue to contribute heavily in the NBL1 for us in 2023.”
