On October 15th CCAV held their 5th annual Gala and Awards Night at the RACV City Club. Attended by over 500 people, it is most prestigious night on the CCAV Calendar and looks to acknowledge the outstanding work by Clubs, Associations and Bistro’s throughout the State.

Kilsyth Basketball picked up two awards on the night, Best Club or Association and Best Youth Development Program.

The award for Best Club or Association recognised outstanding achievement by a Club Association in the area’s of Member Services, Retention, Customer Service and Community Outreach.

The award for Best Youth Development Program was won by Kilsyth Basketballs Queens of the Court Program. A program that aimed to enrich the sport of Basketball for young females aged 8-10 years of age. The program ran six sessions over a 2 month period and combined on court training and development with off court social activities such as Movie Nights and Ice Cream Socials. All participants were also given a role model in the form of a SEABL or VYC Womens team player as part of a Big Sister Little Sister component of the program.

All 40 girls who participated in the program enjoyed it thoroughly developing their skills and making new friends. Some of the participants boosted their confidence during the program and went on to try out for Kilsyth Cobras Junior Representative Teams and some were successful in making teams.

These awards are another great achievement for Kilsyth Basketball and it’s programs and on behalf of the Association we are proud and grateful to everyone involved.
