The Kilsyth Cobras have made a big addition to their backcourt for the 2024 NBL1 season, signing Kilsyth junior, Josh Duach.
Duach, an SCYC Scorpion junior, returns to his home club following an adventurous three years, having spent time at the NBA Global Academy, Melbourne United, Iona College in New York and most recently in Brisbane with the Northside Wizards in the NBL1 North.
The 6’6 combo guard starred in the NBL1 North last season at just 20 years of age, with Duach leading the Wizards in free throw (48) and three point makes (2.6 3FG), while ranking second on the team in scoring (16.2ppg), three point percentage (35.3%) and free throw percentage (82.8%). Duach finished the season in blistering form, averaging 20 points per contest over the final 13 regular season games, including a dazzling 38 point, six rebound, six assist performance in the final game of the regular season. Quickly developing into an elite perimeter shooter, Duach buried four or more triples in a third of his games, and drilled a season-high six three-pointers on two separate occasions.
Boasting world class speed and athleticism, Duach gives the Cobras an explosive perimeter scoring option; one equally adept at lighting it up from deep and finishing above the rim spectacular fashion. The former Australian junior representative and NBA Global Academy scholarship holder can be just as impactful on the other end, too, with his length and cat like reflexes making Duach a nightmare one on one defender.
The high-flying Duach adds to the crafty playmaking of Adi Tomada and Mitch Dielemans, while his perimeter length, shooting and defensive disruption is the perfect complement to veteran wings, Corey Jeffs and Ben Ursich. Sprinkle in Duach’s above the rim antics and lethal transition play, and the Cobras look set to unleash a highly skilled, versatile, and electric homegrown perimeter attack in 2024.
