Claire Knight will return to lead the Kilsyth Cobra Victorian Youth Championship (VYC) Women for the 2020 Big-V season.
Knight returns to lead the Cobra Women for a third straight season, following an impressive 2019 campaign which saw Kilsyth return to the postseason for the second consecutive season. The Cobra Women boasted a 16-6 regular season record in 2019, tied for third in the VYC standings. Knight also led the Under 21 Cobra Women this season, recording an impressive second place finish in the Victorian Championship (VC) division.
Knight’s strong year on the sidelines saw her named as an Assistant Coach for the Victorian Women’s Under 20 State Team, which will compete at the Australian Championships in February 2020.
Kilsyth Manager of Basketball Operations, Mark Watkins, is excited to have Knight back for a third season, with Knight’s rapid development of the VYC Women’s program setting the team up for a big 2020 season.
“I’m pleased that Claire is continuing as our VYC Women’s Head Coach for a third season,” Watkins said.
“The club is looking for Claire to continue to build the program she has worked hard on establishing.
“Her goal will be to advance further into playoffs and win a VYC Championship, and at the same time prepare the girls to go the next level in the NBL1.”
The VYC Cobra Women are set to tip-off their preseason campaign in late October, with the Big-V regular season tipping-off in mid-March, 2020.
