“You can feel the professionalism they have from their junior program right up through to the senior end.”

A graduate of the University of California – Riverside, Patton had a standout two year stint with the Highlanders, averaging 13.3ppg and 5.6rpg over his Junior and Senior seasons. Following his time at UC Riverside, the 6’10 forward/centre was a member of the NBL’s Melbourne United from 2014-2016, before joining Dandenong in the SEABL in 2015. In nine games with the Rangers, Patton averaged an impressive 16.9ppg and 7.1rpg on 57% shooting from the field, with his low post physicality proving difficult for opposing bigs to stop.

Patton joins former teammate and Kilsyth junior Auryn Macmillan on the Cobras frontline, with pair set to form one of SEABL’s most formidable frontcourt duos. They were teammates for one season together at Melbourne United, with Patton excited at the prospect of playing with Macmillan once more.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with Auryn again,” Patton said.

“Our games compliment each other and I think we’ll make one of the toughest frontcourt’s in the league next season.”

Cobras Head Coach Justin Schueller echoed Patton’s statement, believing his newly signed big men will be an excellent fit for his system moving forward.

"Chris will be a great pairing in our frontcourt with Auryn – I can see them working off and complimenting each other very well,” Schueller said.

"We love his ability at both ends of the floor. He is a double double threat every night which is what we wanted from our five-man.”

Patton is expected to join the team immediately, with the Cobras beginning their offseason program earlier this week.

More key signings are expected to be announced early next week.
