With 11 home doubleheaders on tap for 2016, there will be plenty of opportunities to see your Cobras and Lady Cobras in action as they both look to return to the SEABL playoffs for the third consecutive season.
With new teams added to the competition and a re-shuffling of both the South and East Conferences, the 2016 season promises to be full of excitement and intrigue early on. The Cobras will stay in the South for the year ahead and welcome newcomers Albury-Wodonga and Geelong into the conference, while rivals Bendigo and the BA Centre of Excellence will depart for the East. Also shaking up the men’s competition is the addition of the Melbourne Tigers, who have made the jump from Big-V into SEABL.
The breakdown of key dates for your Assist PT Cobras in 2016 is as follows:
Saturday April 2 – Home Opener/School Holiday Special
The Cobras tip-off their season at home with a doubleheader against the Brisbane Spartans, and we’re giving FREE entry to all Kids 12 and under.
Saturday April 16 – Women’s Championship Rematch
Our Women hit the road for a national championship rematch against the Dandenong Rangers, looking to reverse last years result.
Sunday April 17 – Rivalry Round
The Cobras take on cross-town rivals Nunawading at home for the first of two meetings as they play-off for the Dick Thomas (Women) and Dennis O’Brien (Men) cups.
Saturday April 23 – Good Sports Round/Junior Domestic Night
Our annual Junior Domestic Night may be renamed Good Sports Round, but we’re still offering FREE entry to all Junior Domestic players who come along in their team gear. It’s also your first chance to see newcomers, the Melbourne Tigers, in SEABL action.
Saturday June 4 – ‘helloworld Lilydale’ Retro Night
Retro Night is back! Building off the success of our inaugural night last year, our Cobras will again rock their 90’s throwbacks when they take on Geelong, who will also be dressed in mid-90’s uniforms. Both adults and kids alike are encouraged to dress in their best ‘retro’ outfit, with all Kids 12 and under dressed retro receiving FREE entry. Fans will have the chance to strut their stuff as we bring back our catwalk competition, with prizes and giveaways up for grabs on the night.
Saturday July 16 – Christmas in July
We’re celebrating Christmas early with a Christmas in July special against Dandenong. Get out your Santa hat, elf ears and best Christmas themed outfits as the Cobra Red and Ranger Green serve as the perfect centrepiece for some holiday festivities.
August 13 – Regular Season Home Finale
Hosting the kids from Canberra, the Cobras take on the BA Centre of Excellence for the final regular season home doubleheader of 2016.
