As many of the Kilsyth Basketball community and the local community in general are aware, Josh Allison played many, many years in all levels of our domestic and representative competitions and represented our Association with the Kilsyth Cobras men for many years in the South East Australian Basketball League.
The Allison family is also heavily involved in all areas of the Association from administration to coaching to playing and have been for well over 20 years.
Josh was involved in an unfortunate accident in early October 2011 and as a result he has broken his back, damaged his spinal cord and is now a paraplegic.
Josh (currently 25 years of age) has a loving family, a fiancé` Jess and two beautiful angelic girls, Keely 4 and Willow who turned 1 in October 2011. Josh and Jess were actually due to be married on 31 October 2011 however this has been rescheduled to April 2012 to allow Josh time to undergo extensive rehabilitation to gain his strength and independence to return home.
Josh will now require a wheelchair specific for his needs (which will need to be upgraded every 5-6 years), major renovations to his family home and to purchase a new vehicle which will be required to be converted to suit his abilities. In conjunction Josh will also require ongoing medical and living expenses.
These massive life changes to a young man and his beautiful family do not come cheap as unfortunately Josh’s ongoing expenses may not be covered by insurance.
It is for this reason that we ask you to put the evening of Sunday 4 March 2012 in your Diary’s, the event shall be held at Club Kilsyth and shall feature many well know sporting celebrities, a big ticket auction and a silent auction. All proceeds from the night shall be going directly to Josh Allison. More details shall be released early in the New Year
