With back to back game this weekend the Workforcexs Lady Cobras and the Workforcexs Cobras have their work cut out for them against Nunawading on Saturday night and Ballarat at home on Sunday afternoon.

The Workforcexs Lady Cobras had had mixed results last weekend with an 11 point win over Bendigo before returning home on the Sunday to be outclassed by Knox by 24 points. Kilsyth have now dropped to fourth position and have Saturday night’s opponent the Nunawading Lady Specters (6-7) biting at their heels in fifth position. They then take on Ballarat Lady Rush (3-9) on Hugh McMenamin court on Sunday who lost to Nunawading last Saturday by nine points.

The game between Nunawading and Ballarat was a tale of two halves, with the Lady Specters dominating play in the first half before the Lady Rush came back in the second. Olivia Jones for Ballarat had 15 points while Caragh Spicer (17pts, 8rbds) and Rhiann Mattinson (12pts, 12 rbds) were Nunawading’s best.

For the Workforcexs Lady Cobras  Sam Drescher (20pts, 10rbds) was the best against Bendigo with a double-double, Brittany Renton (17pts, 8rbds) and Jenna Verhoef Jenkins (11pts) were the other players to reach double figures.

On Sunday afternoon against the Workforcexs Lady Cobras only managed to stay in touch during the first half before being overrun in the second. If Kilsyth are to finish the weekend with both wins and to keep their position in the top four they will need to find the form they displayed last Saturday night against Bendigo.

The Workforcexs Cobras (8-4) defeated Bendigo by 20 points over Bendigo in what was a four quarter effort. The game was set up on the back of a 19-7 first quarter and Kilsyth maintained the lead for the rest of the game.

Zach Taulien (16pts, 6rbds), Will Sinclair (14pts, 6rbds) were the top scores for the match and were well supported by Adam Knott (8pts, 11rbds) and Aaron Reinbott (8pts, 6rbds).

Their opponents this week Nunawading (8-5) and Ballarat (4-7) played off against last week like in the women’s draw with the result being just eight points. For Ballarat Corey Collier with 19 points and 11 rebounds was the best and for Nunawading it was Adam Blackmore (13points, 10rbds) and Mark Breda (7pts, 16rbds) who helped their side to the win.

Kilsyth need to defeat Nunawading and Ballarat if they want to move into outright second position and stay close to Knox, both games should be tight hard fought contests.

The Workforcexs Lady Cobras tip off at 6.30pm and the Workforcexs Cobras tip off at 8.30pm on Saturday night June 25 at Nunawading Basketball Stadium. Sunday June 26 sees them return to Hugh McMenamin Court to face Ballarat, the Workforcexs Lady Cobras tip off at 12.30pm and the Workforcexs Cobras tip off at 2.30pm.
