The Swinburne Lady Cobras will travel to Ballarat in a must win game. A win would secure 4th place on the ladder while a loss would send Kilsyth to 7th position where they would miss finals.
Chambers has had an outstanding year with Swinburne Lady Cobras bringing a wealth of experience to the sideline which has had a positive impact at all levels of the Club.
She has connected with the Junior and D League programs and continued the philosophy of bringing through the Clubs juniors to the SEABL team. The trust shown in Jordyn O’Shea to become the starting point guard is evidence of this.
In announcing her contract extension, Association President Malcolm Allison was full of praise for Chambers. "Cheryl has brought a new level of professionalism to Kilsyth; she is an outstanding teacher of the game and has had a massive impact at all levels of the Club."
"Cheryl has connected with the younger players at the Club and brought in others who are not just great players but great people. They have assisted her to build a great culture around the team which has resulted in a successful year."
"We very happy to have secured such an outstanding person and Coach for the Swinburne Lady Cobras again in 2011," concluded Allison.
Chambers is excited about her contract extension but knows they still have a lot of unfinished business for 2010.
"I am excited to be returning in 2011, I have enjoyed this year and believe we have started to build something. I am keen to continue working with the players and develop the culture, while ensuring the development of the Clubs juniors."
Chambers was a little hesitant to talk about next year as the Swinburne Lady Cobras are still very much in contention in 2010.
"We have to bring our A-game against Ballarat, we are in control of our own destiny. We have been playing well over the last couple of weeks and have been smart and efficient."
"We want to show the League how much we have developed this Season during the finals," concluded Chambers.
Chambers will spend the off-season working as an assistant coach to Mark Wright with the Dandenong WNBL team but will continue working with the Kilsyth squad over this time.
The Swinburne Lady Cobras will tip off against Ballarat 8.00pm, you can follow the game on live stats via the SEABL website.
