On their first two game losing streak of the Season, the Swinburne Cobras needed a win to ensure they did not fall from second place on the ladder.

Frankston quickly found themselves on the back foot as Kilsyth raced to a 20-8 lead.  But the Blues managed to cut the margin to six at quarter time with some late buckets.

Fernandez Lockett (19pts, 7rbds, 5stls) was quiet in the second term as his team mates stepped up to hit four threes.  Tim Mulhall (13pts, 5/6FG) scored eight points to help the Swinburne Cobras extend their half time lead to 12.

Lockett exploded in the third term as the Swinburne Cobras out scored Frankston 22-5.  With a late bucket to Lockett the margin ballooned to 29 points at three quarter time.

Frankston up the pressure in the final term and managed to connect from behind the arc.  Rob Kampman (14pts, 8rbds), Mitch Chapman (12pts) and Andrew Harms (11pts) were all able to connect from behind the arc.

Despite the late run, the Blues were never going to cause an upset, Kilsyth steadied late in the quarter to finish with a 19 point win.

Kilsyth out rebounded the Blues 35-28 while shooting at 48% from the field compared to 44%.

The Swinburne Cobras will now prepare for their arch rivals the Knox Raiders in the Battle for the Ashes. Tip off is scheduled for 8.15pm, Saturday 3 July 2010.
