The Lady Cobras return to the court after a disappointing loss to Knox in Round 16. A bye last weekend has helped Coach Jason Knight re-focus the team for their Title defense.

Kilsyth (10-7) currently sit 4th on the ladder trailing Bendigo (11-6) with three games remaining.  The Lady Cobras will back themselves to finish 3rd with Albury, Frankston and Dandenong left to play compared to the Lady Braves who must take on Nunawading, Brisbane and Ballarat.

Amy Denson (19.5ppg and 10.1rpg) will be looking for a big game against the Bandits after dropping her production slightly in June.

Sarah Parsons (10.8ppg, 10.1rpg, 5.5apg) has been the difference for the Lady Cobras during the winning streak, increasing her productivity and returning to her 2008 form.  The Lady Cobras will need this to continue if they are going to defeat Albury this weekend.

The Lady Cobras defeated Albury 57-49 back in round 13 and despite leading by double digits for the majority of the match allowed the Bandits to pull back the final margin.

Amy Denson was able to hold another MVP candidate Lisa Wallbutton to just 6 points and 11 rebounds in the Lady Cobras last win and she will again need to put on the stops for Kilsyth to record the win.

The Cobras have turned their season around over the past month and with an intense commitment at the defensive end they have put themselves in a position to contend for the Title.

With four games remaining against Geelong this week, the AIS, NW Tasmania and Ballarat; the Cobras have an opportunity to finish in 2nd place on the ladder. Kilsyth (11-12) are locked in a battle with the Knox Raiders (12-12) for 2nd place and will likely need to win all four of their remaining games to snatch the position.

Joe Werner (14pts, 11rbds) was below his best in the Cobras 72-85 loss to Frankston last weekend. Despite holding one of the League’s top teams to just 85 points, the Cobras inability to make a basket at the offensive end made their task of winning the game difficult.

They travel to Geelong to take on one of the League’s highest scoring teams this week and will again need to be at their best defensively to contain the Supercats.

Kilsyth suffered a 4 point loss to Geelong back in Round 8 and match up well with the Supercats.  Joe Werner and Tim Lang will be the key for the Cobras at the offensive end but it will be Kilsyth’s ability to defend Geelong’s perimeter shooters that will be the key.

Geelong was 15/27 from behind the 3 point line in their earlier match up and if the Cobras can contain the Supercats from this range they are a real chance to win their 12th game of the season.
