The story of the night was again the Cobras disgraceful free throw shooting percentage and inability to defend the long range shot.  Kilsyth was 14/29 from the free throw line at 48% while the Chargers hit 14/32 from behind 3 point line at 44%.

These issues continue to haunt the Cobras and have cost them up to three games in 2009.  If they are going to be a contender in 2009 they will have to address these concerns and quickly.

Chris Cameron (17pts), Adam Jackson (16pts), Gerard Leonard (13pts) and Joe Werner (11pts, 12rbds) led the way for the Cobras but no one player was able to stand up and take on the game like Banovic.

Banovic was 14/24 from the field and 3/8 from behind the arc and was well supported by Andrew Stewart and Chuck Long who both finished with 18 points. 

Kilsyth’s only lead for the game last 2 minutes in the opening quarter as Chris Cameron hit from downtown for the first score of the game.  Hobart quickly found their rhythm built an early 11 point lead.

The Cobras pulled back the margin to 7 by the quarter time break but shot just 4/14 free throws as well as missing crucial lay ups as the Chargers made the most of their opportunities and extended the lead to 13 at the half.

Hobart looked shaky to begin the 3rd as Kilsyth came out of the change room prepared for a fight.  The hustle was short lived as Hobart again got hot pushing the lead beyond 20 going into the final term.

Coach Grant Wallace rested his starters in the fourth term to begin preparing for their do or die contest with NW Tasmania (Saturday night).  Kilsyth at 5-7 must win the game to remain in contention with both Bendigo and Knox who are settling into 2nd and 3rd place on the ladder.

Matt Shanahan will again be absent for the game against the Thunder but experienced roster should still be able to get the win over the Tasmanian rivals.
