Retired Collingwood AFL Premiership Captain and former Victoria Metro State and Coburg Giants basketball representative player Tony Shaw will headline a wealth of basketball identities presenting at the Convention and Trade show on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 April 2009.

The BMV Convention and Trade show will bring together managers, administrators, coaches and referees from all over Australia to put together a framework for the best practice management of Basketball Stadiums while also creating a blueprint for programs, competitions and facilities in 2030 and beyond.

Joining Shaw at the Kilsyth Sports Centre this week will be grassroots Basketball managers together with household names in the basketball community including;  Larry Sengstock, Wayne Carroll, Bruce Palmer, Nigel Purchase, Lindsay Gaze,  Mark Cowan, Cheryl Chambers and current Australia Opals Coach Carrie Graf.

The Basketball Convention and Trade Show is supported by both Basketball Australia and Basketball Victoria and provides an opportunity for the entire basketball community to come together to network and share ideas for both the present and future success of the sport.

40 organisations will showcase their products and services at the Trade Show and will join participants at the Convention Dinner hosted by Nigel Purchase and Bruce Palmer.

The Convention workshops will be presented by industry leaders and those working at the grassroots of basketball. Covering three distinct themes of Facilities, Competitions and Programs, the workshops will include – Improving Communication, Working with Referees, Working with the Media, Maintaining and Servicing Sponsorship and Stadium Security.
