Kilsyth dominated the first quarter with Hayley Moffatt (21pts @ 71%) shooting the lights out helping the Lady Cobras to build a 27-15 ¼ time lead. Import Jessica Lonon (12pts, 11rbds) had her best game of the year, as the Blues struggled to guard the versatile Lady Cobras line up.
Extending the lead to 19 at the half Clare Papavs (13pts) and Erica McMenamin (10pts) connected from behind the arc as the Lady Cobras finished the first half shooting at 47%. Kilsyth dominated in all areas for the game out rebounding the Blues 48-35 on the boards and outscoring them 42-18 in the paint.
Desiree Glaubitz (8pts, 7rbds, 4 assists) was quiet letting her team mates do most of the damage in the blowout win. Frankston stayed with the Lady Cobras in the 3rd as Coach Jason Knight shared around the court time pushing the led to 20 pts.
Kilsyth held Frankston to just 8 pts in the last pushing to lead to 30 pts. The Lady Cobras well balanced lineup travel to Ballarat Saturday night. This will be their opportunity to get back into 4th place and get the first leg of the all important split against the Lady Miners. The battle for 4th looks set to be between Kilsyth, Ballarat and NW Tasmania, with Saturday night’s game shaping up to be its most important so far.
The Lady Cobras return home Saturday 17th May at 6.15pm to take on another Country Victoria powerhouse when the Bendigo Braves travel to Kilsyth.
