Sharpshooting Kilsyth junior Hannah Day has signed with the Cobras for the 2024 NBL1 season.

Day wrapped up a decorated Junior Cobras career in 2023, helping lead the U18 Cobra Girls to a top-four finish in the state, and was a member of the U18 Victorian Metro Women’s state team – also recording a top-four finish. Following her national championships campaign – in which she led the team in scoring and ranked second in the nation in three point makes – Day joined the VYC Cobra Women at mid-season, and made her impact felt immediately as she ended the season ranked first on the team in three point makes (2.03FG), second in scoring (14.1ppg) and steals (1.8spg) and fifth in rebounding (5.1rpg).

The SCYC Scorpions junior’s strong play at just 17 years of age earned her an NBL1 call up in 2023, as she suited for six games with the Cobra Women. Day’s short stint included a 10 point performance in just nine minutes against the Hobart Chargers, proving that the skilled wing has the ability to perform at the next level. And when 2023 was all said and done, Day added one final accolade to her resume; she was rightfully named the Club’s Junior Player of the Year.

Following her immensely successful 2023 campaign, 2024 has seen Day continue on her current trajectory; she was named to the Victorian Navy Women’s state team which recorded a fifth placed finish at the U20 National Championships last month in Ballarat. Possessing veteran smarts, elite perimeter shooting and a craftiness off the bounce, Day is well positioned for a huge 2024 season, and could well be one of the surprise youth standouts in the NBL1 South.
