The Kilsyth Cobra Women have added former Ohio State standout Alexa Hart for the 2023 NBL1 season.

A  6’3 forward/centre from Columbus, Ohio, USA, Hart gives the Cobras front court an injection of elite athleticism, rim protection and interior scoring. During her four year collegiate career at Ohio State, Hart established herself as one of the Buckeyes best defenders and shot blockers in school history. Hart recorded 290 career rejections at Ohio State – good for second in school history and seventh all-time in the Big Ten Conference. Her 129 blocks in 2015 set a school record and ranked fifth in NCAA history for a freshman, with the incredible start to her collegiate career earning her Big Ten All-Freshman and All-Tournament Team honours. Hart was even better in her sophomore season, taking home Second Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Defensive Team honours, and helped lead the Buckeyes to the NCAA tournament in each of her four seasons. 

Following her standout collegiate career at one of the NCAA’s most prestigious basketball programs, Hart took her talents to Europe, where she continued to terrorise those who dared to enter the paint. During her time in Spain and France – where she most recently played with CSP Nantes Basket – Hart averaged 11.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, proving to be an elite defender at the European level.

Hart then joined Mackay for the 2022 NBL1 North season, almost mirroring her European numbers (10.1ppg/7.5rpg/1.5bpg) as she helped lead the Meteorettes to a postseason berth. And with a successful NBL1 season up north under her belt, Cobra head coach Hannah Lowe is confident Hart will produce more of the same for the Cobras in 2023.

“Alexa will add hight, strength and outstanding athleticism to our group,” Lowe said.

“She has played in Australia before and I know she is keen to take on the challenge of the NBL1 South Conference in 2023.”
