Zach Moult has re-signed as head coach of the VYC Kilsyth Cobra Men for the 2023 season.
Moult enjoyed a solid 2022 campaign – his first full season – at the helm of the Cobras, leading Kilsyth to a 14-8 regular season mark and second seed in the conference standings. Anchored by one of the leagues best defensive units, the Cobras impressive regular season saw them secure a home Semi Final berth, where they would fall to the eventual champion Ballarat Miners in a three-point heartbreaker.
Despite their playoff agony, the Cobras season was considered a success overall. Moult’s young roster boasted 14 players who came through the Junior Cobras representative pathway, while a further four key athletes missed the season as they progressed into the US collegiate system (Josh Duach and Eythan House) and the Cobras NBL1 roster (Hamish MacDonald and Nick Feller).
“Zach had a great season as VYC Men’s head coach while dealing with lots of adversity,” Kilsyth Manager of Basketball Operations, Mark Watkins said.
“Finishing in the playoffs was a great achievement, and he is preparing his young group for NBL1 in the future.”
Moult will also serve as an assistant coach of the U20 Victorian Men’s state team – after two years on the U20 Victorian Navy coaching staff – with the team set to compete at the U20 National Championships in 2023.
