Star import Sarah Boothe has re-signed with the Kilsyth Cobras for the 2020 NBL1 season.

Boothe returns to Kilsyth on the heels of an impressive 2019 campaign, playing a key role in leading the Cobras to the inaugural NBL1 championship in September. After a slow start to her debut NBL1 season, Boothe finished the year on an absolute tear, averaging 18.8 points, 15.8 rebounds over the final month of the regular season and playoffs.

The Stanford University alum recorded season-highs of 28 points, 23 rebounds and six assists in a July 20 win over Dandenong to begin her late-year flurry, then helped the Cobras pull-off arguably the biggest upset of the NBL1 season on August 2, dropping 21 points, hauling in 17 rebounds and swatting four shots as Kilsyth defeated the 19-1 Bendigo Braves on the road to advance to the league preliminary finals. Boothe added another 20 rebound performance to guide Kilsyth to the NBL1 Championship Game, and came up huge in crunch time in the title game to help the Cobras claim the league’s inaugural championship with another upset victory — this time over the Geelong Supercats.

Tasting championship success in her first season at Kilsyth, Boothe is thrilled to return to the Cobras to take aim at another title in 2020.

“I can’t wait to get back to Kilsyth – I love the club and the community,” Boothe said.

“This past season was incredible. It was an amazing group to be a part of and we created something really special. I hope to build on the culture we created and go for a second championship.”

Boothe’s love for the Kilsyth Basketball community was evident this past season, with the towering centre frequenting local primary schools and assisting in a number of Cobras development programs in 2019. Boothe’s upbeat demeanour and passion for connecting with the local community quickly established her as a fan-favourite, while her unselfish, team-first approach on the court played a key role in establishing the Cobras championship culture this past season.

Boothe will return to Kilsyth at the conclusion of the Greece A1 league, where she is currently starring with OA Chania – located in the Greek island of Crete. Her stellar late season NBL1 form has carried over into the tough European competition, with Boothe currently sitting third in the league in rebounding (11.6rpg) and blocks (1.4bpg), while sitting second on the Chania roster in scoring (12.6ppg), assists (3.2apg) and steals (1.3bpg).
