The NBL1, VYC, NWBL and WNWBL Cobras award winners were have announced for the 2019 season.
The annual awards function, held at Club Kilsyth, recognised some standout performances by a number of Cobras stars, wrapping up an incredibly successful year for the Senior Cobra program. All six senior teams secured finals berths in 2019, highlighted by the NBL1 Women winning the league’s inaugural championship.
Headlining the award winners was NBL1 Women’s team MVP Lauren Nicholson, with the Finals MVP rounding out an unbelievable season by earning league Defensive Player of the Year honours and a spot on the NBL1 All-Star Five, and finished as the league MVP runner-up.
Tohi Smith-Milner earned NBL1 Men’s team MVP honours, with his standout season propelling him to selection for the New Zealand Men’s team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. Tristan Knowles was again named NWBL Men’s MVP after leading the league in scoring in 2019; rising star Teisha Shadwell earned WNWBL MVP honours; and Luke Rosendale and Maddie Taranto were named VYC Men’s and Women’s team MVP’s, respectively.
