The NBL1 Cobra Men have been dealt a tough early season blow to their back court, with All-SEABL guard Isaac Turner set to miss the next four weeks after undergoing hand surgery.

Turner underwent surgery to repair a small fracture in his off hand on Monday, having sustained the injury in the Cobras opening night game against the Knox Raiders. Despite playing through the discomfort of a broken hand, Turner was able to respond with several key baskets in crunch time to lead the Cobras to victory, before backing it up with a spectacular 23-point performance the following day as he led Kilsyth to a home victory over the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence.

While the short term loss of Turner is a significant one for the Cobras, they possess impressive backcourt depth to cover the electrifying lefty in the interim. Fellow All-SEABL guard, Peter Hooley, Under 19 Australian point guard, Sean MacDonald, and 2018 VYC scoring champion Mitch Dielemans are set to hold down the fort in the interim for the undefeated Cobras, who will look to build on their 2-0 start on Saturday night when they play host to the Bendigo Braves (5.30pm/7.30pm).
