The VYC Cobra Men and Women are back on home court as they play host to Sherbrooke and Melbourne, respectively, with the Men set to receive a huge boost with the return of a pair of collegiate stars.

The sharpshooting Jamie Ahale (Mineral Area College) and Liam Evans (Saginaw Valley State) have touched back down in Australia and are set to join coach Mark Landells’ group – starting this weekend – before returning to the United States for their sophomore seasons. Ahale had a standout freshmen campaign at with the Cardinals, draining 100 three-pointers and averaging 11.4 points per game as he earned All-Conference First Team honours, while Evans recorded seven double-digit scoring games in his first season at Saginaw State.

The pair will suit up for the VYC Cobra Men this weekend, with Kilsyth set to take on Keilor on the road on Saturday night before returning home for Sunday’s Doubleheader alongside Claire Knight’s Cobra Women.

The Cobra Women have been one of the league’s early surprise stories in 2018, entering Round 8 with a 6-5 record and just 0.5 games out of second place in the Watson Conference standings. The defending champion Men also sit with a 6-5 mark, and are hoping the additions of Ahale and Evans will help close the gap on Bulleen and Hawthorn, who lead the Cobras by 2.5 games in the conference standings.

The Cobra Women tip-off Sunday’s doubleheader at 12pm, with the Men to follow at 2pm. All VYC home regular season games are FREE for both adults and children, so get on down and show your support for Kilsyth’s best young talent!
